community as their grandfather, Giacinto did when he came to this Country. And that's where the story began...
Giacinto DiGregorio left his family farm in Italy for the United States and in 1923, rented five acres of land in Brooklyn, NY and sold the produce at a market in New York City. Working hard and saving his money, Giacinto was able to later purchase his own farm in Cheesequake, NJ. Continuing to work hard growing the business, he then sold the farm and purchased land in Howell in 1965. The lush farmland is located near two ponds and is how the farm got it's name. Giacinto's son, Angelo, took over the business after his father's passing, opening a small stand on Route 524 and bringing fresh produce and flowers to a growing community.
The family business grew and grew... and grew! And today includes an expansive Garden Center and Country Market, offering a beautiful selection of shrubs, trees and bedding plants, home-grown produce, and freshly prepared foods. We were there on a super sunny weekday afternoon and the garden center was bustling with people eager for warm sunny days and Springtime planting. Chris was busy with customers as we walked through the Garden Center shooting photos of the beauty all around and interesting points that seemed to be endless! What an awesome place.
Walking through the nursery, we came across Paul, one the newest employees. He told us how he's been a customer for the past 27 years and just recently started work at Twin Ponds and is loving it! He was all smiles as he talked about his work there and the DiGregorio family and great customers. We caught up with Chris again and continued the conversation. He proudly talked about the passion he, his brothers and dad have for growing plants and produce and bringing farm fresh delights right to the customer... keeping costs down and quality high. His brother Gary returned from a landscaping project and both brothers agreed that they couldn't imagine doing anything else.
Then, it was onto visiting the farm just a short drive down Route 524. Where all of the growing gets started. We didn't realize what a treat it would be until we drove onto the dirt road entrance lined with tractors and cool looking farm equipment... check out some of the photos and feel transported back in time. Angelo DiGregorio, 2nd Generation, rode over to greet us. We walked and talked with him as he told us the story about his dad coming here from Italy and the beginnings of their family business. He pointed out some of the planting activity in the green houses and told us about all of the very hard work that goes into running a farm. It truly is amazing. The greenhouses and rolling farmland seemed to go on forever. And after talking with this proud man, it was even more obvious the passion and dedication the DiGregorio family has to continue the legacy in growing their farm business and providing their customers with the best quality Jersey fresh products... farm to table!

What better way to celebrate Earth Day this month in our beautiful Garden State, than a visit to one of the amazing farms here. And what a pleasure it was to meet the DiGregorio Family at their farm and garden center located on Route 9. We were greeted by Chris DiGregorio, 3rd Generation, who along with his two brothers and father, operate the family business with the same passion, hard work, and devotion to their
